Labour Day in Finland is also the day when technology students are baptised and therefore converted from fuksis to teekkaris. The baptism takes place in an ice cold river, where students are dipped in it using a big metal basket driven with a crane.
Saying that it was a great experience is a huge understatement.
And I love that the video catches the many moments when a friend and me where screaming like Bobby Blitz in the song “Old School” (the guy is a huge Overkill fan) and the moment when we decided to say: “We are fucking INTO, and we play rock’n roll!!!”
Oh, and my group was the one that was lifted the highest and the one that was dipped the most times. Because we were the noisiest ones, it seems. Fuck yeah.
Crazy day, people. Crazy day.
At the beginning of the week:
“Haha, how funny. Snow in the middle of April. Finland is so funny…”
In the middle of the week:
“Oh, great! Kind-of-sunny days! Spring is indeed coming to Finland.”
At the end of the week:
“Goddammit, Finland. A snowstorm? Get your shit together, geez.”
Russia sent an army twice the population of Finland to conquer them and failed, miserable.
